Where? Blueschool Arts

When?
Saturday, March 16, 10 am - 12 pm

What? This workshop is for visual artists who find showing your work challenging or even painful.  We'll untangle our complicated feelings about value and worth, develop personalized strategies for standing proudly by our work at openings and shows, and practice stepping into the role of "facilitator of engagement" with greater confidence.

We’ll share wisdom, tools, and strategies to help you:

  • Idenfify the deep differences between the twin roles we play as both creators of art and spokespeople for our art

  • Learn how to anticipate and normalize the “showtime slump” when your beloved work can suddenly turn to poop

  • Develop a mantra for showtime to help ground you for openings and shows

  • Tune into the parts of you that are most able and ready to meet the public

  • Design a cloak of protection to keep your most vulnerable artist self safe

  • Find fun and do-able ways to spark meaningful conversation about your art

Showing your work may never be as fun as making your work, but it doesn’t have to be torture! Come expand your toolkit of ways to maintain your confidence, ease and self-worth no matter how “the public” may respond to your art.
