I'm pleased to have two hot-from-the-studio shrines in the "Small Pleasures" show at the Brackenwood Gallery in Langley, WA. If you are local, come check them out anytime in December, or stop by the opening celebration on December 6th, from 5 - 7 pm. This gift-oriented show will feature work by almost all of the amazing gallery artists - an end of year treat!
The two shrines are incredibly different in subject matter, though they are built in a matching pair of cast-off kitchen drawers. (Thanks to my brother Christopher for rescuing the drawers and hauling them up to the island for me!)
"Story 37: Sandy Disappears" is a very spare, almost monochromatic meditation on transitions and vanishing.
"How We Can Be Strong" is a bold, color-saturated "pow" of advice on getting brave and getting on with what you are here to do!
