Just Another Nature Walk

I swear I set out to attempt a somewhat classical nature box.  It was going to  highlight the beauty of simple natural forms and textures through an elegant composition.

And then things started getting a bit... twisted.

Three small plastic eggs I had altered with eyes for another piece found their way in.

A pair of tiny pink legs looked sweet poking out from behind an urchin's shell.

A bit of pink paint around the spiral tip of a broken shell became a nipple.

Other broken shells looked like some small googly eyes would really enhance their natural beauty.

Little tiny brown eyes on wires started wanting to spring out of the holes in a seed pod.  Little pink arms came next.

A hand started reaching out from the little black shoe that my friend's daughter Lulu found on the beach and offered to me for my ephemera collection...it just felt right.

What else?  Oh, the top circle meant to hold shells started looking better with the addition of some human teeth.  (Not real, I promise).

And in the bottom circle with the rocks, I chuckled as I added the bottle cap I found with an illustration of a hand forming the word "rock" in sign language.

The Japanese text around the edges and in the backgrounds feel like they are trying to explain the mysteries contained in the box...but in a language we cannot understand.  Maybe this IS a straight-forward nature box, but from another planet?  Maybe an explorer of other worlds collected samples and put them together in this box, but fell into a volcano before she could add captions?

And that's how my "classical nature box" turned into Just Another Nature Walk.   The perfect piece for a person who likes her nature with a twist.
